Description

1814 Capped Bust Half Dollar, MS64
Attractive Overton O-102a

1814 50C O-102a, R.2, MS64 PCGS. The 1814 O-102a half dollar is a late die state with drawn stars from die erosion and a left wing that is sunk at the base. Attractive silver-gray toning with light golden overtones. Frosty luster throughout the fields and devices. Only tiny contact marks can be seen under magnification. The strike is obviously affected by the late die state on the peripheral elements of stars, dentils, and lettering, but Miss Liberty has good design detail. An outstanding example of the 1814 O-102a Capped Bust half dollar.
