Description

1814 O-109 Capped Bust Half, MS63
Vibrant Luster, Iridescent Toning

1814 50C O-109, R.2, MS63 NGC. CAC. Two center dots in the horizontal shield lines help identify the reverse, while a split curl beneath the L in LIBERTY is diagnostic of the obverse to confirm the O-109 variety. The date is widely spaced -- moreso than any other 1814 variety. Multiple clash marks occupy both sides of this Select Uncirculated example, which shows virtually no other marks of note. The toning is vibrant and iridescent, dominated by shades of steel-blue and coppery-gold. A fully struck coin, with razor-sharp star centers and full details on the drapery and cap folds. Housed in a former generation NGC holder with CAC endorsement.
Purchased from Jonathan Kern (8/1995).
