Description

1814 Capped Bust Half, Pleasing MS63
O-109, Widest Date of All Varieties

1814 50C O-109, R.2, MS63 NGC. A lustrous, Select Uncirculated example of the O-109 variety with faint die clashing on both sides. Attractive iridescent toning blends with olive-gold and sea-green shades that cover both sides of the coin. A few light marks are noted on the otherwise smooth surfaces including a nick and a hair-thin line at the eagle's neck and right wing junction, and a few small marks in the left obverse field. The primary motifs are sharply struck, and bright mint luster at the margins reveals moderate weakness at the dentils from die wear.
Ex: Sheridan Downey (1/1994).
