Original 1817/3 Half Dollar, O-101, AU53
1817/3 50C AU53 PCGS. O-101, R.3. This is a popular overdate both as one of the most obvious in the Bust half series, with the 3 bold under the 7, but also as one of the most "widely separated" overdates, with four intervening years between the under- and overdigits. This piece shows no sign of the reverse die crack that characterizes the O-101a, and as such it is a scarcer die state. Medium steel-gray surfaces on this piece offer a nice original look, with considerable luster remaining and good appeal.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24F7, PCGS# 6111, GSID# 6235)
