    1817/3 50C MS64 PCGS. CAC. O-101a, R.2. The late die state with a die crack curving down through ME to the ring, eventually reaching the olive leaves. Another crack crosses the olive leaves to UN and the border.

    Only about a dozen Mint State examples of this overdate variety have appeared in recent auctions, according to Stephen Herrman's database, and only two of those are clearly finer than this specimen. Both sides exhibit full satin luster beneath intense blue-green and iridescent toning with brilliant russet and gold along the obverse and reverse borders. Population: 4 in 64, 0 finer (6/13).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 24F7, PCGS# 6111)
