Description

1818 50C AU58 PCGS. CAC. O-107, R.1. The mouth is slightly open and the date is closely spaced, which is diagnostic for the obverse. Two minuscule tines at the top of the eagle's beak identify the reverse. The usual clashmarks from the reverse are especially pronounced on this piece, with an impression of the vertical lines of the shield on Liberty's ear, hair, and the motto. Gold to medium brown toning encircles the mostly brilliant centers, and pleasing satiny luster radiates from the minimally marked surfaces. The strike is sharp save for slight weakness on a couple of hair curls and the arrowheads. (Registry values: N491)
