Description

1818 Half Dollar, O-110, R.4, MS62
Excellent Eye Appeal

1818 50C O-110, R.4, MS62 PCGS. The date is spaced 1 81 8 on this very scarce variety, and the reverse shows a "solid triple segment" in the milling above the R in AMERICA. The silvery centers meld into rose field patina and finally to deep steel-blue at the rims. Generous luster covers both sides, and the central devices are boldly struck up on both sides; the 0 C in the denomination, however, is quite weak, the top of the 0 nearly fading out. A few of the obverse stars are drawn to the border by die erosion. Trivial luster grazes rather than mentionable abrasions determine the grade, but excellent eye appeal is present. Certified in a green-label holder.
Ex: "Prouty."
