Description

1824 O-113 Half Dollar, MS61
Early Die State

1824 50C O-113, R.2, MS61 NGC. BHNC Die State 113.1. A horizontal die line is visible inside the 2 of the date. Close examination reveals that the die line is slightly curved and may be the remnant of a previous digit. All known examples of the 1824 O-113 die pair show a die defect in the field over the left shield corner. O-113a is said to have that defect removed through lapping, although none are known. Rich steel-blue and iridescent toning accompanies the light silver surfaces of this pleasing half dollar. Housed in an older generation NGC holder.
