1825 50C O-101, R.1, MS64 NGC....
Description
1825 Capped Bust Half Dollar, MS64
Vibrantly Toned O-101 Example
1825 50C O-101, R.1, MS64 NGC. The Mint produced almost 3
million half dollars in 1825, but Choice Uncirculated pieces are
scarce, and finer examples are conditionally rare. The central
features are layered in cinnamon-gold patina with accents of lilac
and amber, and are accompanied by an iridescent halo of turquoise,
gold and plum around the edges. The strike is pleasing, with most
of the star centrils showing good detail, although Liberty's
highpoint hair curls and the eagle's claws are slightly soft.
Dentilation is good on the obverse but slightly softer on the left
side of the reverse, and the star points and letters show metal
flow toward the peripheries. Marks are consistent with the grade,
although most of them are concealed by the colorful presentation,
which is quite pleasing. Housed in an NGC Generation 5 fatty
holder.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24FL, Variety PCGS# 39647, Base PCGS# 6142, Greysheet# 193929)
