Description

1826 Half Dollar, MS65
Finest Certified O-114'

1826 50C O-114', R.7, MS65 NGC. The rare early die state of O-114 without a die break above the diagonal of the N in UNITED. Dr. Glenn Peterson's two pick-up points for O-114 are both present; a die line inside the shield near its upper left end, and a nearby die dot between the third and fourth horizontal stripes. A nicely struck and satiny Gem draped in autumn-brown and sea-green shades. We note a drop of translucent residue to the west of the eagle's beak. Even with a die break inside the N, O-114 is very scarce, listed as High R.4. The Autumn 2015 Stephen J. Herrman census is topped by an MS65 NGC O-114, a different coin, while his O-114' census lists a single VF20 example.
