Description

1826 O-120 Half Dollar, MS63
Exceptional Quality for the Grade, Gold CAC

1826 50C O-120, Low R.4, MS63 NGC. Gold CAC. The well-struck surfaces are remarkably smooth and unmarked for the assigned grade, with attractive azure-blue toning at the rims around varying shades of tan-gold across the centers of both sides. Weakness of the scroll at PLURI of PLURIBUS and at the TA of STATES is characteristic of the scarce O-120 reverse, which shows diagnostic recutting of the serif on the upper serif of C in 50 C. Housed in an early generation NGC holder (pre-barcode). This lustrous and appealing Select Uncirculated example received the coveted Gold CAC seal for its understated quality.
Ex: House of Stuart (3/1989).
