Description
1827 50C Square Base 2 AU58 PCGS. O-138, R.4. Straight die lines below the eagle's head identify the reverse, and the C in the denomination is the smallest used for this date. This is the only use of this reverse die. Hints of yellow and lilac toning accent the steel-gray centers, and splendid cartwheel luster highlights the boldly struck devices, save for the usual softness on the highest hair curls and the stars.
