Patinated Choice 1827 Half Dollar
Square Base 2, O-132
1827 50C Square Base 2 MS64 PCGS. CAC. O-132, R.3. The 1827
has a proliferation of die varieties, 49 in all. O-132 is
distinguished by recutting on the serif of the C in 50 C, and by a
brief, slender line from the top of the headband to the cap between
the L and I in LIBERTY. Researcher Glenn Peterson exhaustively
studied the Capped Bust half series and published these (and other)
diagnostics. Deep dove-gray and golden-brown embrace this well
struck, satiny, and minimally abraded near-Gem. (Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24FN, PCGS# 6144, GSID# 6184)
