1827 Square Base 2 Half Dollar, AU55
Rare Overton-122, Green-Label Holder
1827 50C Square Base 2, O-122, R.5, AU55 PCGS. Overton-122
is a rare variety, and the present lot is tied for fifth place for
the 1827 O-122 in the Stephen J. Herrman Spring 2023 Revision. All
examples encountered were struck from a well-worn obverse die, with
minimal dentilation and the outer star points drawn to the rim. The
reverse exhibits diagonal die lines below the beak and left
(facing) wing. This is a pleasing cream-gray example with tan-gold
peripheral accents. Marks are surprisingly few. Housed in a
