Description

1829/7 50C AU55 PCGS. O-101a, R.1. A large 5 in the denomination is diagnostic for this die marriage, which is one of only two varieties that feature an overdate. O-101a was struck from a relapped reverse die, and the shafts of the arrows are now barely visible. The bottoms of the 2 and 7 are visible at the bases of the 2 and the 9. Deep amber, brown, and dark purple toning covers both sides of this magnificent specimen. The surfaces are clean save for a couple of inconsequential marks, and the stars are sharply defined. Slight weakness is noted on the hair below the Liberty Cap. (Registry values: N991)
