Description

Lovely Select 1831 Half Dollar, O-104

1831 50C MS63 PCGS. O-104, R.1. A faint die defect line pierces the upper olive berry and the first 1 in the date is notably higher than the 8. This is a late die state example of Overton-104: the top of the 5 in the denomination is barely visible and the die lines that are normally apparent below the bust are no longer there. Streaks of lemon-yellow, hazel, and slate-gray drape both sides of this carefully preserved specimen. The centers are sharply struck, while the stars show the usual weakness and are drawn to the edge. There are no mentionable marks and plenty of flashy luster.(Registry values: N1793)
