Description

1831 O-102 Half Dollar, MS65
Intensely Lustrous Untoned Surfaces

1831 50C O-102, R.1, MS65 NGC. BHNC Die State 102.1. Frosty silver luster covers untoned surfaces, save for a slight bluish tinge, on both the obverse and the reverse. Sharp definition is present throughout. The N of UNITED is filled inside its right angle as always on this die marriage. Herrman lists just one finer auction appearance, the MS67 Eliasberg example. Census: 43 in 65 (3 in 65+), 13 finer (11/25) for all 1831 die marriages.
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2012), lot 3621.
