Description

1833 Half Dollar, O-109, MS65+
Top of the Condition Census Quality

1833 50C O-109, R.3, MS65+ NGC. Frosty and extremely lustrous, this high-end Gem half rates at the top of the Parsley Condition Census for the O-109 variety by virtue of its Plus designation by NGC. Likewise, it would rank #1 in Steve Herrman's Autumn, 2016 listing for the same reason. Blue toning at the borders yields to brief russet accents and a pale-gold sheen, although the much of the coin is brilliant silver-white. The strike is quite sharp, with only a hint of weakness at the midpoint of the scroll. Census (all 1833 varieties): 29 in 65 (2 in 65+, 1 in 65 ), 9 finer (11/16).
