Description
1834 50C Small Date, Small Letters AU58 NGC. O-116, R.2. Although the mouth is typically open, this piece is a trifle soft in that area and the lips appear joined. Nonetheless, the obverse can be identified by the small and close date. Crossbars 4 and 5 extend into the right wing on the reverse, and the A in STATES and the URI in PLURIBUS are weakly struck, which is typical for this variety. A touch of rose toning in the fields accents the silver-gray patina that covers the rest of the surfaces. Several abrasions in the fields are entirely inconsequential.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 6166, GSID# 6207)
