1836 50C Lettered Edge MS62 NGC. O-110, R.1. Star 7 shows faint recutting, as does the end of the olive branch directly above the C in the denomination. A number of vertical stripes connect to the second crossbar, which is another diagnostic for the reverse. Deep gunmetal-gray patina envelops the surfaces of this minimally marked representative. A nearly imperceptible scratch is noted above the date, but the rest of the fields are smooth. The left stars and several letters in LIBERTY are softly struck, but the rest of the details are razor-sharp.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24G2, PCGS# 6169, GSID# 6213)
