Description

1811/10 Half Dollar, AU55
O-101, Smooth Surfaces

1811/10 50C O-101, R.1, AU55 PCGS. CAC. A lightly circulated representative of the traditional Guide Book overdate variety, identified more often by the spike atop Liberty's cap than the die dot between the 81 in the date. O-102 shares the same obverse die, but shows minimal evidence of an overdate. This is an unblemished late die state example with dentils absent from the reverse and a majority of the obverse. Some dentils remain clear near 1 and 7 o'clock. Tan-brown toning is most prevalent at the margins, while the fields and high points are lightly patinated steel-gray.
