Description

1827 50C Square Base 2, O-121, R.3, MS63 PCGS. The A in STATES is recut at its right base, and the second A in AMERICA nearly touches the arrowhead below. This attractively toned example displays iridescent colors at the borders, gradually merging with the lustrous, silver centers. The stars and central portrait are sharp. The cap is a bit flat at the very top, as are the eagle's claw and arrow fletchings on the opposing side. As a variety, the O-121 seems scarcer than its R.3 rating in Mint State, with an MS63 example ranked third in Stephen Herrman's Autumn, 2019 census for the variety, and third in the Parsley Condition Census as well (10/19).
