Description

1827 O-142 Half Dollar, MS64
Square Base 2, Well Preserved

1827 50C Square Base 2, O-142, R.2, MS64 PCGS. A splendid near-Gem Capped Bust type coin. Cream-gray interiors are framed by subtle ice-blue and straw-gold toning. Marks are surprisingly absent. A fleck near star 5 and a dash of steel-gray on the left (facing) wing provide identifiers. O-142 is often attributed by a diagonal die line down into the wing from the upper right shield border.
Ex: Greenhill Collection; Pre-Long Beach Auction (Ira & Larry Goldberg, 9/2006), lot 2574.
