1815 B-1 Quarter, MS63
'E' Counterstamp
1815 25C 'E' Counterstamp, B-1, R.1, MS63 NGC. Seen only on
1815 B-1 and 1825 B-2 quarter dollars, the E and L counterstamps
have confounded numismatists since they were first noticed in the
1870s. Several different theories have been proposed since that
time, but none have been proven. They may have been related to
Pennsylvania's Harmony Society, dating to the 1830s. This Select
Mint State piece exhibits lustrous central areas on the obverse and
reverse, with intense peripheral gold, blue, and iridescent
