Description
1815 Quarter, Magnificent MS64
Sole Die Pairing of the Year
1815 25C MS64 PCGS. B-1, R.1. There is only one die variety
of 1815 quarter, but the low mintage issue is always in strong
demand as the first year of the Capped Bust issue. This is a
well-struck near-Gem, with the stars sharply defined and only
trivial weakness of strike on the hair forelock of Liberty. The
devices have attractive gold patina. Lustrous and nearly free from
abrasions, with surfaces that suggest full Gem designation.
Ghostly, reversed outlines of devices from the other side are
present as the result of being struck from clashed dies.
