Description

1818 Quarter, B-2, MS65
Semireflective Obverse

1818 25C MS65 NGC. B-2, R.1. After a two-year gap in dates, the quarter dollar series resumed in 1818, beginning a run of consecutive years at that did not end until 1825, the longest streak for the much-neglected denomination to that time. Of the ten distinct die pairs used to strike 1818-dated quarters, the B-2 variant is the most accessible and is represented by this Gem. Radiant silver surfaces are largely semireflective on the obverse with rough patch in back of Liberty's head and a die crack above, indicative of a polished later state. The reverse is similarly untoned but has a more swirling appearance. Minimally abraded and an interesting candidate for a Gem-and-better type set.(Registry values: P2)
