Description

Awesome 1818 Quarter
MS66, B-2

1818 25C MS66 NGC. B-2, R.1. There is a center dot on neck below the ear, there are lumps below and to the left of 2 in the denomination, and all Ts are defective at the bottom right. This piece is Breen Die State II, with a die crack from the field above Liberty's cap and through stars 8, 9, and 10.
This is one of the more easily obtainable varieties of this Capped Bust quarter production, but the awesome technical quality of this coin certainly sets it apart from most, if not all other representatives of this die marriage. This is a simply gorgeous Premium Gem with richly toned gray, green, gold, red, and blue surfaces. Both sides are frosty in texture with well centered, sharply defined features. There are no mentionable abrasions on this coin, destined for a fine type or date set. Census: 12 in 66, 1 finer (10/08).
