Description

1818/5 B-1 Quarter, MS64
Remarkably Attractive Near-Gem

1818/5 25C B-1, R.2, MS64 PCGS. A satiny and penetratingly struck example with dusky and original tan-gold toning. Both sides are remarkably unabraded and display moderate clash marks, as made. The obverse die was never used in 1815 due to the mint fire, and once quarter production resumed in 1818, the final date digit was overdated to help curtail production costs.
