1818/5 Bust Quarter, MS 64 NGC
1818/5 MS 64 NGC. B-1a, R.1. A rare, choice uncirculated survivor of the Large Size Bust quarter type. This is a very popular variety as an overdate which was caused, in part, by the fire in the Philadelphia mint in 1815. This particular obverse die was never used and was subsequently repunched in 1818 to help curtail production costs. This specimen has been carefully stored for many years as deep golden shades partially overlay each side. Population 12 in 64, none finer (10/96).Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 5323, GSID# 5099)
