Choice 1818/5 Bust Quarter, MS 64 PCGS
1818/5 25C MS 64 PCGS. B-1, R.1. A satiny and extremely well struck example with the beginnings of golden toning about the obverse border, deepening to reddish-gold across much of the reverse. This is a popular variety as an overdate which was caused, in part, by the fire in the Philadelphia Mint in 1815. This particular obverse die was never used in 1815 and was subsequently repunched in 1818 to help curtail production costs.
