Description
Gem Quality 1818/5 Quarter With Original Toning
1818/5 25C MS 65 NGC. B-1, R.3. A pretty coin from the standpoint of originality, dappled crimson-russet and electric-blue toning is splashed over the otherwise dove-gray surfaces. The eagle's neck feathers and the corresponding features on the obverse are a little softly defined, but the remaining devices are crisp and well centered. Essentially abrasion-free, the surfaces reveal several interesting clashmarks (as produced) in the reverse field. An extraordinarily well preserved example of this scarce overdate.Coin Index Numbers: (PCGS# 5323, GSID# 5099)
