Large 0, B-2, Smooth Surfaces
1820 25C Large 0, B-2, R.2, AU55 PCGS. Tompkins Die State
1/1. B-2 pairs the Large 0 obverse die of B-1 with the "lines from
leaf tip" reverse die of B-5. B-2 and the Small 0 B-4 are the
usually encountered 1820 varieties. Vibrant brick-red, ocean-blue,
golden-brown, and lilac toning illuminates protected areas of this
attractive example. The high points display light wear, but no
marks are of any consequence.Ex: Baltimore Auction (Bowers & Merena, 3/2005), lot 482, which realized $2,530; Denis W. Loring Capped Bust Quarter Collection; to the present consignor.
