Description

1820 Small 0 Quarter, AU53
Rare Browning-5

1820 25C Small 0, B-5, R.5, AU53 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 1/1. Lightly toned straw-gold fields and devices are framed by deep navy-blue patina. Liberty's neck curls and the top of the eagle are softly brought up, but peripheral elements are sharp. Smooth except for a single hair-thin horizontal line on Liberty's neck. The rare B-5 pairs the obverse of B-4 with the reverse of B-2. It was struck in 1821, after the 1821 B-4, which shares the same reverse.
