Description
1821 B-1 Quarter, MS62
Rare Die Variety in Mint State
1821 25C B-1, R.3, MS62 PCGS. Tompkins Die Stage 1/1. B-1 is
a generally accessible die marriage, but it becomes elusive in Mint
State. Tompkins' Condition Census would have this coin tied for
second behind two MS63 coins. The centers are cream-gray, ceding to
gunmetal-blue and crimson-gold tones around the margins. Hints of
luster remain. Both the portrait and eagle display signs of strike
softness. Population (all varieties): 10 in 62, 38 finer (11/17).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23RM, Variety PCGS# 38963, Base PCGS# 5331, GSID# 212707)
Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
