Description

1821 MS 65. The fields have a subtle reflectivity on each side that adds even more to the already considerable eye appeal of this piece. But, as stated, this is a subtle effect with other elements more dominant when one first views the coin. The strike is unusually bold in the centers but a trifle weak on several of the stars at the periphery. Both sides have a light golden-gray patina and down the central part of the obverse there are several vertical grease stains (as struck). A delightful early Large Size quarter.
