Description

1822 B-1 Quarter, MS61
Violet and Light-Gray Patina

1822 25C B-1, R.2, MS61 NGC. Tompkins Die State 1/1. Subdued light gray and violet patina cover both sides. The strike details are flat over the high points, as usually found. No abrasions merit comment. The 1822 quarter is a scarce date in spite of what appears to be a sufficient mintage of 64,080 coins. Three die marriages exist, of which this is the most common. NGC Census for the B-1 variety: 1 in 61, 2 finer (12/25).
