Description

Charming 1824/2 Quarter, AU55 Details, B-1

1824/2 25C --Cleaned--ANACS. AU55 Details. B-1, R.3. The only variety known. A trace of the underdigit is visible at the top and bottom of the 4. Numerous hairlines on both sides are an unfortunate side effect of the cleaning, but there are no prominent marks otherwise. A touch of gold toning in the periphery accents the mostly silver-gray surfaces. The stars are a trifle weak, as typically seen, but the rest of the details are sharp. Although the exact mintage is unknown, it is estimated that fewer than 24,000 examples were struck, despite the exorbitant figure listed in the Guide Book.(Registry values: P4)
