1825/4 B-2 Quarter, MS64
Deep Original Toning
1825/4 25C MS64 NGC. B-2, R.2. Specialists have debated the
underdigit(s) of B-2 over many years. A consensus has developed to
call it an 1825/4, not to be confused with the much rarer 1825/2
B-1. The present satiny near-Gem has dove-gray centers bounded by
peripheral powder-blue and apple-green. The strike is precise and
neither side has any consequential contact. Liberty's neck displays
an interesting and fairly large strike-through, as made and shaped
much like a hockey stick. One has to wonder what object was on the
planchet or obverse die at the time of the strike.(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23RS, PCGS# 5336)
