1828 25 Over 50C Quarter, B-3, MS61
Stunning Early Mint Blunder

1828 25C 25 Over 50C, B-3, R.5, MS61 NGC. This is a stunning error from the early 19th century, the blundered 25/50 denomination still quite perceptible today, of course. This rose-gold- and violet-toned example of the B-3 variety boasts surprisingly few signs of contact for the grade, which is largely determined by a die grease stain on the reverse, at the left (facing) eagle's wing. One nick does appear on Liberty's cheek, but despite these small flaws, much eye appeal will encourage potential bidders. Census for the 25 Over 50C variety: 1 in 61, 2 finer (1/16).
