Description

1828 25C 25 Over 50C, B-3, R.5, VG8 NGC. Tompkins Die State 1/1 (as always). A "circulation cameo" example of the very scarce, blundered denomination Browning-3 variety. Light, cream-gray toning on the raised elements contrast boldly with deep, gunmetal-gray fields. Smoothly worn with only a few letters visible within the scroll, this VG example is nevertheless fully outlined on all of the devices with complete rims visible. A pair of tiny reverse rim nicks are the only marks, and they are of little concern for the assigned grade. Census: 3 in 8, 20 finer (9/17).
