Description
1828 Quarter, B-1, MS64+
Vibrant Surfaces, Sharp Motifs
1828 25C B-1, R.1, MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Tompkins Die State 1/2.
B-1 is the most plentiful of the four 1828 quarter varieties,
frequently encountered in date and type sets. However, in Mint
State grades, die variety is of little significance, as the 1828
quarter is scarce at all levels and rare in Choice or finer
condition. This exceptional Plus-designated representative displays
remarkably sharp detail throughout most design elements, including
the stars, border denticles, and the central eagle; the only
mentionable striking weakness is noted on the banner around the U
in PLURIBUS. Satiny luster highlights the minimally disturbed
surfaces and reveals tinges of gold, olive, and aquamarine color in
the peripheral recesses, with warm champagne and pale amber hues
over the interiors. Population, all varieties included: 9 in 64 (1
in 64+), 5 finer (3/15).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23RV, Variety PCGS# 38976, Base PCGS# 5342, GSID# 212715)
