Description

1828 Quarter, B-4, MS61
Carefully Preserved, Great Color

1828 25C B-4, R.3, MS61 NGC. Tompkins Die State 1/1. Lavender-gray toning in the centers is framed by deep aqua-green color around the borders. The design elements are sharply impressed, revealing just a touch of softness on a few of Liberty's hair curls and the eagle's left talons. The surfaces are carefully preserved. This coin appears to be conservatively graded, perhaps due to the fields being somewhat subdued by the toning. A nice example with great eye appeal. Census (all varieties): 5 in 61, 42 finer (11/18).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2004), lot 6338, where it brought $2,875.
