Description

1828 B-4 Quarter
MS62 Prooflike

1828 25C MS62 Prooflike NGC. B-4, R.3. Most easily attributable by the low F in OF. The B-4 is scarce and proofs were struck from these dies. Thus, one may assume that after the proofs were produced it took a number of strikings for the heavy die polish to wear off, which resulted in the finish seen on this coin. The fields are extraordinarily deep and well-matched from side to side. The obverse shows rich peripheral rose and royal blue toning, while the reverse is much lighter in hue. Sharply defined throughout.(Registry values: P3)
