1831 Capped Bust Quarter, MS64
B-5, Large Letters
1831 25C Large Letters, B-5, FS-301, R.3, MS64 PCGS. CAC.
B-5 is identified in part by the repunched date -- which shows
clearly the 1s entered over previous, also smaller 1s -- as well as
recutting on star 11. This Mint State example is softly struck on
the lower obverse stars, as usual, but shows otherwise bold detail.
Lilac-gray and amber undertones fade beneath a gunmetal-blue
overlay when this satiny coin is rotated beneath a light.
Population (all Large Letters varieties included): 13 in 64, 5
