Description

1831 Small Letters Quarter, B-2, MS64
Bright Cartwheel Luster

1831 25C Small Letters, B-2, R.2, MS64 PCGS. Two different lettering sizes were experimented with during the first year of production for the reduced diameter quarter, with the Small Letters variant being the more available for type purposes. This boldly struck, nearly untoned example displays strong cartwheel luster over each side, with minimal surface flaws interrupting its radiance. A thin die crack connecting the three arrowheads on the reverse is diagnostic of this variety. Population: 55 in 64 (3 in 64+), 21 finer (5/14).
