Description
PCGS 1831 MS 65. Small Letters. A truly superlative example of this first year Small Size issue. Complementing the magnificent toning that graces either side is a strike that brings out nearly every intricate detail, falling just short on a few of the lower stars. The surfaces are impeccable in their preservation, with hardly a blemish to be found, even under magnification. No doubt this coin was struck with somebody important in mind, perhaps a Senator, an ambassador, or a high ranking mint official. PCGS has graded 7 coins similarly and just 1 finer.
