Description

Choice 1832 B-2 Quarter Dollar
Condition Census Example

1832 25C MS64 NGC. B-2, R.2. Just two varieties of 1832 quarters are known, and a single glance at the reverse is sufficient for attribution. The Browning-1 die marriage has long arrowheads that nearly touch the border. Browning-2 has short arrowheads that are far from the border, on about the same arc line as the top of the letters in AMERICA.
The obverse of this late die state piece has a crack from the curl to stars 13 and 12, nearly reaching star 11. This Choice Mint State piece ranks among the finer surviving examples. Steve Tompkins records a single MS66, one MS65, and five MS64 coins in his Condition Census for the variety. Both sides exhibit deep gold and iridescent toning with an above-average, well-centered strike and underlying frosty luster. Census: 14 in 64, 3 finer for both die varieties (2/11).(Registry values: P2)
