1833 B-1 Quarter, Strong MS63
Early Impression From the Dies
1833 25C B-1, R.2, MS63 NGC. Tompkins Die Stage 1/1. One
obverse and two reverse dies account for the two known die
marriages for the 1833 quarter, struck to the extent of 156,000
coins. This near-fully defined Select offering appears to be an
early impression from the dies with flashy fields and lightly
frosted motifs. There are stray wispy marks on both sides, but they
are largely unimportant. Census (both varieties): 14 in 63 (1 in 63
★ ), 21 finer including Prooflike and Deep Prooflike
(11/17).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23RY, Variety PCGS# 38989, Base PCGS# 5352, GSID# 212963)
