Description

1835 B-1 Quarter, MS64
Late Die State With 'Gray Dirt' Surfaces

1835 25C B-1, R.1, MS64 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 1/4. Medium "gray dirt" surfaces contain hints of steel-blue and mustard, with slightly deeper gray tones on the reverse. Some slight striking weakness is found on the curls under the headband and in the feathers left of the shield, but thorough examination is needed to notice this. This die marriage is the most available of the year, but contains all of the interesting reverse die cracks described by Tompkins, lacking only the obverse crack through the top of the cap.
