Description
1836 Quarter, VF Sharpness
Rare Browning-5 Variety
1836 25C -- Cleaning -- PCGS Genuine. VF Details. B-5, High
R.6. Easily the rarest of the 1836 die marriages, B-5 was
unknown to Browning. It was discovered in 1988 by Bob Spangler.
Likely, the obverse die failed relatively early during the B-5
marriage, perhaps with a pie-shaped piece out between the radial
cracks at 5:30 and 7:30. The present stone-gray example is subdued
by cleaning and is mildly granular. The only visible marks are
located on the lower portion of the eagle motif.(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23S3, PCGS# 5355, Greysheet# 5092)
